Where to get independent help

These organisations provide free, confidential support and are independent of BUUNIX.

  • Gamblers Anonymous — worldwide mutual-support fellowship with meetings in many countries. This is the primary independent support organisation we refer players to.
  • Jugadores Anónimos — Spanish-language mutual-support fellowship active across Latin America and Spain.
  • GamTalk — free online community and moderated chat about gambling problems.

If gambling is affecting your mental health, or you are having thoughts of harming yourself, please seek help immediately from local emergency services or a healthcare professional. Support is available and things can get better.

Is gambling becoming a problem?

Ask yourself these from time to time. Answering "yes" to several may be a sign.

  • Do you spend more money or time gambling than you intend or can afford?
  • Do you return to try to win back losses?
  • Do you gamble instead of dealing with responsibilities at work, at home or in relationships?
  • Have you lied to people close to you about how much you gamble, or borrowed money to gamble?
  • Do you feel restless, irritable or anxious when you try to cut down or stop?
  • Has gambling stopped feeling like entertainment?

If any of that sounds familiar, use the player protection tools, consider self-exclusion, and reach out to one of the organisations above. Asking for help early makes a difference.

Playing responsibly

Gambling is not a way to make money. Only gamble with money you can afford to lose. Never gamble with borrowed money. Set time and money limits before you start and stick to them. Do not chase losses. Do not gamble when upset, stressed or under the influence. Balance gambling with other activities.
